Technical diving is the equivalent of skydiving for scuba divers, taking experienced and qualified divers outside the recreational limits. With technical diving, there are many more equipment and training requirements because of the additional challenges it entails, but if you are looking to experience the greatest challenge in the sea, a PADI TecRec course is for you.
Why Technical Diving?
Simply put, there are people who want to go where no one has gone before, to visit places underwater that are impossible for the average diver to see. Many amazing shipwrecks lie well below 130 feet and technical diving will give you the opportunity to explore them. At the same time, you’ll also have the ability to see life in the ocean that’s rarely visible. The challenge and focus of technical diving is also its own reward for many who spend time in the deep.
How TechRec Works
TecRec courses are designed to work into a seamless flow in which you work your way from a beginning technical diver to becoming one qualified to go deeper thanks to various gas mixes and advanced gear. Each level of the course introduces you to new equipment along with the planning and procedures that help you extend your diving limits. At the same time, you’ll need more equipment: two to five regulators, redundant dive computers and various accessories that are all part of standard technical diving gear.
You must be 18 years or older and be certified by a doctor before you begin technical dive training. You are also required to be certified as a PADI Enriched Air Diver and PADI Deep Diver or equivalent.
